Extension from 28 September 2020

The JobKeeper scheme has been extended from 28 September 2020 until 28 March 2021.

There are two separate extension periods. For each extension period, an additional actual decline in turnover test applies and the rate of the JobKeeper payment is different.

The rate of the JobKeeper payment in each extension period will depend on the number of hours:

  • an eligible employee works, or
  • an eligible business participant is actively engaged in the business.

It will be split into two rates.

Tier 1 rate: Tier 2 rate:
This rate applies to:

  • eligible employees who worked for 80 hours or more in the four weeks of pay periods before either 1 March 2020 or 1 July 2020, and
  • eligible business participants who were actively engaged in the business for 80 hours or more in February and provide a declaration to that effect.
This rate applies to:

  • any other eligible employees and eligible business participants.

Employers and businesses will need to nominate the rate they are claiming for each eligible employee and/or eligible business participant.

The rules for eligible religious practitioners are similar to those for eligible business participants, with the payment rate depending on the hours spent doing activities in pursuit of their vocation in February.

Alternative tests for determining the payment rates that apply to an eligible employee, eligible business participant or eligible religious practitioner may be available in some circumstances.

The rate of the JobKeeper payment is also different for each extension period.

Legislation has passed the Federal Parliament yesterday to extend Single Touch Payroll (STP) to smaller employers (those with 19 or less employees) from 1 July 2019. This now provides certainty to the more than 700 000 businesses who will need to be STP-compliant by the 1 July start date.

This now means every business large or small must be ready on or before 1 July 2019.

Friendlier Emails

Updates to the default messages when invoices, quotes and orders are sent.

Original Message: “Please contact us immediately if you are unable to detach or download your invoice”

New Updated Message: “Hi, your invoice is ready”

If you have changed the default message in the past, your preset message will remain the same after you’ve updated your MYOB.

If you would like to change your default message go to Setup > Preferences > Email > Email Defaults.

Invoice Reminders

No more spending time debt collecting – With 2018.4 you can now set an automatic reminder to send your customers to pay their invoice.

Preview your Pay Run

Now you can preview your pay run and fix any errors before you record it.

Easy to identify errors including;

  • Items mapped to the wrong ATO payroll category.
  • Superannuation not mapped at all (therefore reporting 0).
  • Tax-free items that are not reducing gross amounts.

Spend Money Attachments

Build a more efficient and paper free workplace!

Easily attach receipts and documents to spend money transactions.

Find transaction attachments with ease. A new attachment icon is now displayed in the bank register next to the entered transactions. Double click the icon to view the attachment.

Attach Documents to your Contact Cards

Corresponding documentation can now be added to supplier, customer and employee card files. Simply open the card file of choice, click attachments (top left) then drag and drop your desired documentation or click ‘add document’ to be able to select from a file destination.
